APOSTILLE & I-9

An APOSTILLE (pronounced uh-PAW-still) is a special certificate that authenticates a public document for use in another country, simplifying the process under the Hague Convention by verifying the signature, seal, or stamp of the official who issued it, making it valid in foreign nations without further legalization.

Why is an Apostille important?
International Legal Recognition: The primary purpose of an apostille is to make a public document (like a birth certificate, marriage license, or diploma) issued in one country valid for legal use in another participating country. Without it, foreign authorities may not accept the document. AND
Fraud Prevention: The apostille verifies the authenticity of the signature, seal, or stamp of the official who issued or certified the public document, providing an added layer of credibility and preventing fraud in cross-border transactions.

Did you know the Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form confirms that an employee is legally allowed to work in the U.S.? Employers use it to verify each new hire’s identity and work eligibility. Commissioned by the Columbus Bar Association and trained by The Ohio Society of Notaries, Carla brings 14 years of experience as a Notary Public, with a strong background in notarizing a wide range of documents. She is a Certified Notary Signing Agent, having completed training through both the National Notary Association and the Loan Signing System. Additionally, she is certified as a Remote Online Notary, having been trained by Ohio Notary Services.
